Black Panther has become a hot topic as of late. An Oscar nominee (undeserved) and positive step forward on the subject of race and film (deserved). It’s hard now to separate the film from the hype surrounding it. Yes, it features a predominantly black cast. But on the flip side it has terrible cgi rhinos and some obligatory action scenes.
I enjoyed this film on the first watch. Noting a strong, sympathetic villain and a wonderful and fresh setting. However on the rewatch I found myself a little bored, much like Avengers Assemble, the action of the first half seems unimportant and disconnected from the latter half. With all this said, I’m glad we finally deserve a Black Panther movie.
